This is another very popular Japanese dish in the US. Do not go for a bottle of teriyaki sauce. So easy to make.
What you need for two;
4 Chicken Thigh with skin, boned
Sake 50cc (about 3 TBS or a bit more. Substitute white wine or beer if you don’t have sake)
Sugar 1.5-2 TBS
Soy sauce 1.5 TBS
How to make;
Open a chicken thigh and make it as flat as possible with a knife.
Prick the skin a few times with a fork.
Heat a frying pan over medium heat and place the chicken, skin side down.
When the skin gets crisp and golden, flip them over.
When the other side gets also golden, reduce the heat and cover for 5-7 minutes until done.
Prick with a sharp knife and check if it is done. If so, increase heat and sprinkle with sugar.
Then add soy sauce and keep heating for reducing the sauce. Turn chicken frequently.
When the sauce is thick and syrupy, it’s done. Easy, right?
Enjoy!
I have the recipe in Japanese, too.
